Taku Japanese is a Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Camberwell, Melbourne, specialising in authentic Japanese cuisine. We are committed to serving fresh, high-quality dishes and providing an exceptional dining experience in a welcoming environment. We are currently seeking an experienced Cook to join our team. You will be dedicated to culinary arts and eager to contribute to an extraordinary dining experience. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items in line with established recipes, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation. You will maintain kitchen cleanliness, comply with food safety standards, assist with stock control, and work collaboratively with the team to support efficient kitchen operations. Responsibilities Cook: ·Preparing, cooking, and serving a diverse range of Japanese cuisine; ·Utilizing various cooking techniques such as boiling, steaming, frying, grilling, and simmering for meats, poultry, seafood, eggs, rice, soups, and sauces; ·Assisting with food preparation, including washing, cutting, chopping, and marinating ingredients; ·Collaborating with the Chef to update and enhance the menu based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences; ·Monitoring and maintaining food quality and consistency throughout preparation and presentation; ·Ensuring uniformity in food presentation, including portion sizes, flavor, texture, and overall appearance; ·Maintaining food storage areas and adhering to proper food handling practices and storage temperatures; ·Assisting in stock management, including monitoring inventory levels and ensuring proper stock rotation; ·Complying with food safety regulations and industry standards in kitchen operations. Required Qualification and Experience ·At least 3 years’ experience as a Cook ·Cert IV or above in cookery Required Knowledge and Skills ·Experience with Japanese cuisine is essential ·Proficiency in cutting and cooking techniques and principles ·Strong abilities to work as a team member ·Proactive, energetic and shares a passion for the hospitality industry ·Possess effective communication skills
