This approach empowers organisations to make confident decisions, improve outcomes, and sustain meaningful change over time.Role Description The Chair at Thrive Stars will provide strategic leadership and governance to support the organisation’s mission and impact. This is a volunteer, on-site role based in the Greater Newcastle Area. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading board meetings, setting agendas, facilitating informed decision-making, and ensuring effective oversight of organisational performance and risk. The Chair will work closely with other board members and senior stakeholders to guide strategy, support stakeholder engagement, and champion good governance and ethical practices. The role also involves representing Thrive Stars in key forums, fostering partnerships, and helping ensure the organisation remains aligned with its values and long-term goals.QualificationsDemonstrated leadership experience with the ability to chair meetings and facilitate collaborative decision-making.Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, ideally with exposure to workforce performance, organisational development, or related fields.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build constructive relationships.Experience in risk management, compliance, or oversight of organisational policies and frameworks.Commitment to principles of inclusion, wellbeing, and sustainable performance, with a values-driven approach to leadership.Understanding of nonprofit, social enterprise, or impact-focused organisations is beneficial.
