Transport / Logistics / Drivers Operations Melbourne Permanent / Full Time 7/5/2026 Key team leadership role for a strong people manager keen to make an impact Full Time Opportunity | Monday to Friday Roster | 12 pm to 8 pm Shift Derrimut Depot | Immediate start for the right candidate What’s The Role: We’re seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Forklift Operator to join our Afternoon Shift team. This is a hands-on role responsible for leading a small team of five employees while actively supporting daily forklift and freight operations. This fast-paced operation manages up to 30–40 trucks per shift, requiring strong leadership, coordination, and a safety-first approach. Lindsay Transport is Australia’s largest fresh produce transporter, delivering temperature-sensitive freight to major markets and grocery distribution centres across Australia. Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Safe Always – Leading by example and promoting safe work practices across the team. Team Leadership – Supervising and supporting a team of five employees on afternoon shift. Freight Handling – Loading and unloading trailers and moving freight safely within the depot. Temperature Sensitive Freight – Handling refrigerated, frozen, fresh, and dry freight safely and efficiently. Load Accuracy – Ensuring trucks are loaded correctly in line with load sheets and operational requirements. Equipment Operation – Operating forklifts and stabilisation equipment as required. Operational Support – Assisting with the coordination of daily freight movements across a high-volume transport operation. What You’ll Bring: Current forklift licence with demonstrated operating experience. Previous Leading Hand, Team Leader, or senior warehouse/freight experience. Experience loading and unloading trucks in a fast-paced environment. Warehouse, pick packing, and stocktaking experience. Refrigeration or temperature-sensitive freight experience (preferred). Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with team members and drivers. Ability to follow transport documentation and operational procedures.
