An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Risk and Commercial Manager to join our team in Malaga. Your main responsibilities will include: Set and enforce commercial governance frameworks aligned to UON policies and risk appetite. Lead negotiation and approval of client-facing and downstream contracts, ensuring risk is clearly understood and appropriately allocated. Represent UON in complex commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. Oversee subcontractor procurement — from tender packaging and evaluation through to award recommendations. Assess all claims, variations, extensions of time and payment applications against contractual entitlements. Proactively identify and mitigate risks to project margins, cash flow and write-backs. Maintain and actively manage UON’s enterprise risk register and insurance program. Interrogate monthly project financials and lead health checks to surface risks and validate commercial discipline. Lead commercial risk reviews of tenders, bids and major pursuits in conjunction with the Pre-Contracts Manager. Drive margin performance and identify opportunities to expand scope and enhance value across live projects. Skills & Experience Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Law, Quantity Surveying or related; professional accreditation (MRICS, AAIQS, MCIOB) desirable. Minimum 10 years’ experience in contracts, commercial or risk leadership within construction, mining or major projects. Deep knowledge of construction and contract law, with experience across multiple contracting models and delivery structures. Proven ability to lead contract strategy, negotiation and governance across clients, subcontractors and supply chains. Strong financial and analytical skills — able to interrogate project financials, resolve claims and protect margins. Confident communicator able to present risk and commercial positions clearly at executive and Board level. Proven leader who influences through expertise, mentors teams, and champions safety and integrity.
