About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor / Diesel Mechanic to lead our maintenance operations at our Bacchus Marsh depot. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing workshop activities, ensuring our fleet is safe, reliable, and roadworthy, and supporting a high-performing team. You will play a critical role in maximising vehicle uptime while maintaining strict compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards. Key Responsibilities Fleet Maintenance & Reliability Oversee maintenance and repairs across the fleet to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance Ensure all servicing is completed on time and meets OEM and regulatory standards Diagnose faults, coordinate repairs, and test drive vehicles to confirm performance Aim for zero breakdowns and high pass rates on inspections Workshop Leadership Supervise and support diesel mechanics, apprentices, and workshop assistants Allocate work orders effectively based on skill level and workload Monitor job progress and ensure accurate completion of documentation Step in to manage the workshop in the absence of the Workshop Manager Planning & Compliance Schedule planned and reactive maintenance using fleet systems Maintain compliance with heavy vehicle regulations, NHVIM, CoR requirements, and company procedures Ensure all work orders, inventory, and labour are recorded accurately Manage parts ordering and ensure all parts meet OEM quality standards Safety & Culture Promote and enforce a strong safety-first culture Ensure correct PPE use, safe handling of equipment, and hazard-free workspaces Support incident reporting and continuous improvement initiatives Lead by example to build a positive, respectful team environment Communication & Customer Service Liaise with drivers, managers, and suppliers to resolve defects and maintain service levels Provide clear, professional communication and minimise downtime Participate in after-hours callouts as required About You Essential Skills & Experience Certificate III Diesel Mechanic Experience in heavy vehicle maintenance (bus or truck highly regarded) Proven leadership or supervisory experience Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Solid understanding of safety and compliance requirements Licences & Requirements Heavy Rigid (HR) driver’s licence Driver Accreditation (or ability to obtain) Working with Children Check Strong computer literacy (experience with fleet systems desirable) What We Offer Stable, full-time role in a growing organisation Supportive team environment with strong leadership backing Opportunity to lead and shape workshop operations Ongoing training and development Why Join Us?
