Description Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Payroll Officer will play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll processing and providing support across the broader finance function. Key responsibilities include: Process end-to-end payroll for a workforce of approximately 200 employees, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies Maintain and update employee records, including new starters, employment variations and terminations Provide timely, professional and customer-focused support in responding to payroll-related enquiries Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, employment contracts and applicable Modern Awards Calculate wages, leave entitlements, superannuation, PAYG and other payroll-related adjustments Perform payroll reconciliations and assist with compliance reporting and audit requirements Support annual salary review processes, including back-pay and retrospective payment calculations Maintain accurate and compliant electronic personnel records and documentation Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, including invoice processing, payment allocations, account reconciliations and monitoring outstanding balances Support month-end processes through payroll reporting, reconciliations and general finance administration Identify opportunities to improve payroll, finance and administrative procedures, contributing to process enhancements and efficiencies Assist with ad hoc payroll, finance and system improvement projects as required This role offers the opportunity to combine payroll expertise with broader finance responsibilities within a collaborative and purpose-driven organisation. Profile A successful Payroll Officer will have: Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a medium-sized organisation Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards and employment obligations Previous experience working within a Not-for-Profit (NFP) or purpose-driven organisation will be highly regarded Exposure to payroll systems such as HR3, SAP or PayGlobal Experience supporting HR administration functions, including employee onboarding, personnel record management and employment changes Understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes would be advantageous Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality and compliance Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively resolve payroll and employee enquiries Strong reconciliation, reporting and problem-solving capabilities Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a broader Finance and HR team A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and process efficiency.
