Onsite collection housing and retrieval Support a heritage collection for an iconic State institution Full-time, ongoing role VPS 2.1 $62,104 - $70,930 About the Opportunity The Collection Logistics Officer collaborates with other Collection Access Branch staff to retrieve and reshelve collection material. The role also entails operating independently to support onsite collection housing and retrieval of a wide range of collection items, for both internal and external stakeholders. The Collection Logistics Officer supports the implementation of policies and procedures that promote adherence to international standards and guidelines for retrieval and handling of collection material in a cultural heritage institution. While the role offers the opportunity to engage with the collection items, you will primarily be engaged in retrieval activities across our large and complex site located in the Melbourne CBD. The Collection Logistics Officer is an on-site role and entails moving across the entire city block that comprises State Library Victoria. There is a rotating roster, which incorporates a 7.6 hour working day plus meal break, which operates between the hours of 8.15am and 6pm. As we are open to the public 7 days a week, the role also requires weekend work (approximately one in three), and some public holiday shifts. About You In addition to your capacity to follow guidelines and procedures, you possess the enthusiasm and attention-to-detail needed for lateral thinking and accuracy when undertaking repetitive tasks. You are comfortable undertaking a significant amount of walking and bending during your working day and you also have the dexterity to utilise step stools, mobile shelving units, trolleys and a range of library equipment. In addition, to your enthusiasm you will bring: Demonstrated experience in collection retrieval and reshelving. Understanding of library collection logistics and library circulation systems. Demonstrated capability in prioritising work tasks to deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes. An excellent track record of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of a high-quality retrieval service. Experience handling heritage and general collection items (desirable).
