Job description Principal Business Analyst Initial 12-month contract with possible extension Brisbane CBD location Hybrid working (60% office / 40% WFH) DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Principal Business Analyst to join a Queensland State Government client delivering digital transformation and business optimisation initiatives. The successful candidate will work within a business-led delivery team responsible for developing bespoke business applications that support critical insurance and lifetime care services. This role is ideal for a hands-on Business Analyst with strong experience in business application delivery, Agile methodologies, and stakeholder engagement within fast-paced digital environments. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct process analysis and workflow mapping for business-led digital solutions. Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements including user journeys, use cases, test cases, and acceptance criteria. Support hands-on test planning and execution to ensure quality solution delivery. Participate in release planning and support delivery within Agile sprint cycles. Maintain project documentation and actively manage JIRA, Confluence, Figma, and sprint artefacts. Collaborate closely with developers, business SMEs, and delivery teams to translate business needs into build-ready solutions. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, showcases, and retrospectives. Facilitate stakeholder workshops and manage business-facing discussions to gather, refine, and prioritise requirements. Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across business and technical teams. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support successful digital transformation outcomes. Mandatory Requirements: Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst within business application delivery teams. Strong experience in process analysis, workflow mapping, and requirements elicitation, including user journeys, use cases, test cases, and acceptance criteria. Hands-on experience with test planning, test execution, and release support activities. Proven experience working within Agile delivery environments and short sprint cycles. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence and shape business requirements. Experience working collaboratively with developers, business SMEs, and cross-functional delivery teams. Demonstrated experience using JIRA, Confluence, and Figma within Agile delivery environments. Ability to translate business needs into practical, fit-for-purpose digital solutions. Highly Desirable: Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure. Experience within insurance schemes or Appian-based application delivery environments.
