The Opportunity As a Wood Machinist in our production team, you will play a critical role in the foundational stage of our manufacturing process – ensuring all timber and panel products are cut, machined, and prepared to the highest standard before moving into assembly. This is a hands-on role where precision and machinery expertise directly impact production workflow, the accuracy of our cabinetry components, and the overall quality reputation of the Farquhar Group. What You’ll Be Doing Setting up, operating, and maintaining industrial woodworking machinery, including CNC routers, drilling machines, beam saws, and edgebanders, to process materials to exact specifications. Interpreting job sheets, technical drawings, and production schedules accurately to ensure precise machining of components. Performing rigorous quality checks on machined parts for dimensional accuracy, edge finish, and structural integrity. Ensuring all components meet strict internal quality standards before being passed on to the completions and assembly teams. Supporting continuous improvement by identifying material defects, machine calibration issues, and efficiency opportunities. Performing routine operator based maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Working collaboratively with production, assembly, and dispatch teams to maintain steady workflow and meet deadlines. Maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in line with strict OHS requirements and machinery safety protocols. What We’re Looking For Trade qualification in Wood Machining, Cabinet Making, or equivalent practical experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Strong, proven experience operating and setting up CNC machinery, edgebanders, drilling machines and beam saws. Excellent ability to read and interpret technical plans and production documentation. A keen eye for detail and precision, with a proactive approach to quality control. Strong understanding of safe work practices and machine maintenance. Reliability, efficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
