We are currently seeking an experienced Coatings Inspector to join our team and support defence and industrial projects in South Australia. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly skilled project environment, ensuring coating and preservation activities meet stringent quality and compliance requirements. This role will involve providing third-party coatings inspection support, including surface preparation (surface cleanliness and blast profile), coating application, (Wet Film Thickness (WFT), Dry Film Thickness (DFT) inspections, Hardness testing, and holiday/spark testing to Australian Standard, manufacturers data sheet and project specification. The responsibilities include documentation review, reporting, and coordination with project stakeholders. Ideally, the successful candidate will reside in the Adelaide area and be available to work Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work weekends as required. This is a full-time position. Key duties will include but not limited to: Liaise with supervisors, crews, contractors, and client representatives. Conduct surface preparation inspections, for cleanliness, profile, and visual. Conduct coating application inspections, cure, hardness, visual, adhesion, and spark/holiday testing. Conduct WFT and DFT measurements and recording and interpretation. Review and interpret specifications, ITPs, product Technical Data Sheets, and project documentation. Identify and report coating quality issues. Prepare inspection reports and associated documentation. Maintain accurate filing, archiving, and inspection records. Participate in quality, safety, and OQE audits. Maintain inspection equipment and equipment registers. Support suitable project outcomes through effective communication with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrate a strong focus on specifications, standards, safety, and quality requirements. Requirements: Current NACE Level 2 / AMPP CIP Level 2 accreditation (Mandatory) Australian Citizen (Mandatory) Minimum 10 years relevant coatings experience Strong understanding of coating standards, and QA/QC processes Naval Preservation desirable. Confined Space Entry certification. Working at Heights certification. White Card. Current driver’s license. Good understanding of specifications, ITPs, and product Technical Data Sheets. Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and email correspondence. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to liaise professionally with multiple contractors and stakeholders. National Police Clearance within 30 days. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
