It is a story that is ever evolving and growing – and it is a story for a nation and for the world.Role Purpose The Security Manager (Security Adviser) is responsible for providing expert advice and support to the National Museum of Australia on all aspects of protective security, excluding cyber security. The Security Manager will play a key role in ensuring the museum's people, information, and assets are protected from a range of threats, in line with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). Selection criteria • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Demonstrated understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and its application in a museum or cultural institution context. • Experience in conducting security risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies. • Knowledge of physical security principles and practices, including access control, CCTV, and alarm systems. • Experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills. • Relevant qualifications in security management or a related field. • Experience working in a museum or cultural institution. • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, such as the Work Health and Safety Act. • Experience with emergency management planning and response.
