As the primary provider of food and beverage on campus, we have a wide range of cafes and quick service venues that include Food Trucks & Coffee Van. We care about your development so we offer two full days of paid training , plus going training in the outlets on your shifts to help build your barista & customer service skills to an exceptional level. WHAT YOU WILL DO Welcoming customers and providing them with memorable services and experiences Preparing and serving high standard hot/cold beverages while focusing on speed of service Strong knowledge of menus, building customer satisfaction and creating repeat business Manage and maintaining coffee machines, equipment and utensils Coordinate a wide range of café duties (opening/closing, set ups, cash handling etc) to ensure you and your team are operating the front of house business to its capacity Using your sales & interpersonal skills upselling on every transaction and selling the benefits of USU Rewards membership ESSENTIAL SKILLS 1 years experience working with commercial coffee machines in a high-volume environment (at least 5kg - 10kgs of beans per day) 1 years demonstrated experience working in a fast paced, customer focused food environment (café / restaurant / QSR) Minimum 1 years’ experience using touch screen point of sale systems (POS) in a food and beverage environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, flexible and hardworking, works well in a team Experience in food setup/prep THE PERKS Free USU Rewards membership on commencement worth up to $150 A daily meal allowance/discounts to be used at all USU F&B and Retail outlets (working over 5 hours) Flexible Hours Monday to Friday Access to a range of discounts on thousands of products Two days of paid training Penalty rates included working past 6pm on weekdays ($36.11) and higher penalty rates for working on events on weekends (Saturday $47.10 Sunday $62.80) THE PAY $32.50 (inclusive of 25% casual loading) per hour 12% Superannuation HOURS OF WORK We have positions with up to 38 casual hours available during the semester period We don’t do weekends, please note you will need to be available to work Monday through Friday to be considered. *You must be available to work a minimum of 3- 4 shifts a week, each shift consists of a minimum of 4 hours.
