This is a hands-on leadership role with a well-established manufacturing business in Shepparton - and they're looking for someone who takes real ownership of the procurement function, drives efficiencies, and ensures materials and services are sourced cost-effectively and on time. About the Role Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll oversee procurement, purchasing, logistics, and warehouse operations. Managing a small, dedicated team, you’ll ensure materials, components, and outsourced services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time to support a busy production environment. This role combines strategic procurement leadership with day-to-day operational management. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage procurement, purchasing, logistics, and warehouse functions Negotiate supplier agreements and pricing to achieve strong commercial outcomes Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding suppliers accountable for performance Monitor supply timelines to ensure production schedules and deadlines are met Resolve supplier issues including delays, pricing discrepancies, and quality concerns Drive procurement strategy, cost savings, and continuous improvement initiatives Oversee inventory management, stock control, and warehouse operations Manage freight and logistics performance to meet delivery expectations and budget targets Monitor KPIs and provide reporting to support business planning and performance What We’re Looking For: A solid understanding of building materials is important - you'll be working with suppliers of components and materials in a manufacturing context and need to speak their language You must be proactive and confident in price negotiations - willing to challenge suppliers and push for the best possible outcome. This business expects pricing to be reviewed and renegotiated at least every six months, so a set-and-forget approach won't cut it here Communication needs to be thorough and consistent - with your team, with suppliers, and with the broader business Discipline in approach and time management is non-negotiable - there are deadlines, KPIs, and a production schedule that depends on you This role suits someone who takes ownership, makes decisions confidently, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Your Background Previous experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or a related industry Experience working with building materials or within a related manufacturing/construction supply environment Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a procurement or purchasing function Inventory management experience including budgeting, stock turn, and reorder management Strong negotiation and commercial judgement Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings High computer literacy - ERP systems, Word, Excel Why Join?
