Mechanical Fitter Report to: Leading Hand - Mechanical Fitter Direct Reports: Trade Assistants, Apprentices The Role You will perform general mechanical maintenance, repair, and refurbishment across a range of engineering disciplines. This role exposes you to diverse environments, including plant equipment and marine vessels. Key Responsibilities Carry out mechanical repairs and refurbishment on existing plant and marine equipment. Operate lathes, milling machines, power tools, and specialised workshop machinery. Capture critical technical information during disassembly and follow manuals precisely for reassembly. Mentor and oversee Trade Assistants and Apprentices on-site. What You Need Minimum of three (3) years post-trade experience in industrial, heavy, or marine industries. Strong technical ability, numeracy, and literacy skills. High attention to detail and deductive reasoning for problem-solving. Excellent communication skills for client interaction (in person and over the phone). Must hold a valid manual driver's license. 2. Boilermaker Report to: Leading Hand - Boilermaker Direct Reports: Trade Assistants, Apprentices The Role A dual workshop and site-based role focused on heavy engineering. You will inspect, service, fabricate, and repair client assets using modern welding and fabrication techniques. Key Responsibilities Fabricate components from engineering drawings, designs, or reverse-engineered templates. Apply distortion control measures while cutting, measuring, bending, and folding. Conduct standard welding using GMAW/FCAW, GTAW, and MMAW processes. Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Oversee and guide Trade Assistants and Apprentices. What You Need Relevant trade qualification with minimum three (3) years post-trade experience. Proven background in marine or heavy industrial engineering. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and fabricating from scratch. Strong client-facing presence and analytical problem-solving skills. Must hold a valid manual driver's license. 3. Trade Assistant (TA) Report to: Project Supervisors, Leading Hands, Boilermakers & Fitters The Role You will provide crucial hands-on support to tradespeople and supervisors. This role is highly varied, involving logistics, machinery operation, and site safety support across heavy industrial and marine settings. Key Responsibilities Support Boilermakers and Mechanical Fitters with assembly, dismantling, and material cutting. Act as fire watch sentry and confined space sentry when required. Handle logistics: operate EWP/Boom lifts, coordinate cranage movements, and secure loads on manual vehicles. Conduct paint and blast tasks, workshop housekeeping, and equipment mobilisation. What You Need Proven practical experience within heavy or industrial mechanical industries. Ability to operate workshop machinery and inspect tools for proper function. Strong multi-tasking skills with a highly pro-active, helpful attitude toward co-workers. Sound understanding of basic math, literacy, and standard operating procedures.
