We are seeking a trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Leading Hand to guide a team of technicians, run daily workshop workflows, and ensure the highest standards of fleet maintenance. This is a premier role designed for a skilled mechanic who wants to stay on the tools while stepping up to supervise, coach, and allocate tasks to a dedicated workshop crew. Key Responsibilities Workshop Leadership Lead, support, and supervise a workshop team of Heavy Vehicle Mechanics and apprentices. Allocate daily tasks and monitor workflow metrics to hit strict operational turnaround deadlines. Provide on-the-job coaching , technical mentoring, and constructive performance feedback. Cultivate a high-accountability culture focused heavily on safety, efficiency, and quality work. Technical Maintenance & Compliance Perform diagnostics and oversee complex mechanical repairs on heavy vehicles and fleet trailers. Enforce WHS compliance , manage regular toolbox talks, and maintain a safe workspace. Review job cards , update service records, and report directly to the Workshop Supervisor. What You Bring Trade Qualification : Essential Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Fabrication, or Vehicle Body Building. Industry Experience : Proven background servicing heavy vehicles, trailers, or heavy transport equipment. Leadership Mindset : Previous experience as a Leading Hand, workshop supervisor, or senior mentor is highly regarded. Safety Focus : Rigid commitment to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.
