Linux Systems Engineer | Contract Location: Canberra (100% Onsite) Contract: Initial contract 12 with extension potential Security Clearance: Current TSPV clearance required The Opportunity An opportunity exists for an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join a highly secure Defence/National Security program delivering and sustaining critical enterprise infrastructure. This contract is suited to an engineer who enjoys working across the full systems lifecycle-from design and implementation through to integration, deployment and operational support-in a complex, mission-critical environment. You'll work alongside experienced technical specialists supporting enterprise platforms that underpin operational capability. Key Responsibilities Design, implement and administer Linux-based enterprise infrastructure. Deliver end-to-end engineering activities including design, development, testing, integration and operational deployment. Support the ongoing sustainment and optimisation of enterprise systems. Configure, maintain and troubleshoot secure infrastructure and applications. Work across virtualised environments, networking, storage and operating systems. Support containerised workloads and distributed computing platforms. Configure and maintain secure web services, including TLS, certificates and load balancing technologies. Collaborate with architects, engineers and operational teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions. Produce and maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Skills & Experience Essential Current TSPV Security Clearance (mandatory). Strong experience administering and engineering Linux enterprise environments. Demonstrated experience supporting medium to large enterprise infrastructure. Strong knowledge of: Enterprise server infrastructure Virtualisation platforms Linux operating systems Networking fundamentals Experience designing and supporting secure enterprise applications. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Highly Regarded Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift or Docker. Knowledge of distributed computing environments. Experience with web services, TLS, certificates and load balancing. Exposure to Windows Server environments. Automation and Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python or similar). Previous experience within Defence, Intelligence or National Security environments.
