Our Client Well established custom home builder with strong reputation in residential delivery Projects include single storey, double storey, knockdown rebuild and custom homes Strong focus on practical, buildable and cost conscious design outcomes Design closely integrated with construction, sales and customer experience Growing internal capability and investment in design leadership The Role Senior position reporting directly to the Operations Manager Lead the Concept Design team and oversee day to day workflow and performance Remain hands on with complex and high value concept design work Ensure all concept designs are buildable, compliant and commercially viable Act as the key link between design, sales and construction teams Drive consistency, quality and continuous improvement across the design function Responsibilities Lead, mentor and develop the Concept Design team Set expectations, manage performance and support capability growth Manage workload planning and resource allocation Review and approve concept designs prior to customer presentation Produce or support complex concept designs where required Engage with customers on complex design requirements and escalations Support sales and pre construction teams with practical design solutions Ensure compliance with NCC, Victorian Building Regulations and planning requirements Consider site constraints, easements, engineering and authority requirements Escalate complex compliance and planning matters where required Drive innovation in home design and product development Maintain focus on buildability, cost effectiveness and constructability Requirements 7 years Experience working within a custom home builder is essential ArchiCAD experience is a necessity Background in residential concept design within a building environment (not purely design studio based) Proven leadership experience or strong readiness to step into a leadership role Strong understanding of residential construction methods and buildability Solid knowledge of NCC, Victorian Building Regulations and planning frameworks Ability to balance customer expectations with commercial and compliance requirements Strong communication skills across internal teams and customers Benefits Leadership role reporting directly to the Operations Manager Real influence over design direction, product development and team culture Mix of hands on design and strategic leadership responsibility Opportunity to shape and grow an internal design function Strong pipeline of residential work within a growing custom builder Long term career progression In the past 5 years we have been extremely humbled to have placed over 16,000 people into meaningful employment .
