About Us Coastal Dry Tropics Landcare Inc. (CDTLI) is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting, restoring and enhancing the natural environment of the Townsville region. Our Bush Garden Community Nursery plays a vital role in supporting revegetation projects by producing locally sourced native plants while also supplying quality native species to the public and commercial clients. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and community-minded Nursery Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our Bush Garden Community Nursery. Reporting to the Management Committee, you will be responsible for leading nursery operations, supporting and supervising volunteers, maintaining a safe and efficient workplace, and ensuring the continued production and sale of high-quality native plants. This is a diverse, hands-on position that combines horticulture, administration, customer service and community engagement. Key Responsibilities Manage the daily operation of the Bush Garden Community Nursery. Supervise, support and engage volunteers during nursery operating hours. Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation and organisational policies. Coordinate retail and commercial plant sales, providing advice on suitable native plant species. Manage nursery inventory, stock control and point-of-sale systems. Coordinate the purchasing of nursery supplies and consumables. Maintain nursery equipment and facilities to a high standard. Process sales, manage cash handling and undertake weekly banking. Promote the nursery through community events, open days and social media. Prepare monthly reports for the Management Committee and contribute to annual reporting. Undertake other duties consistent with the position as required. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Essential Qualifications in horticulture, botany, nursery production, or equivalent industry experience. Demonstrated leadership, communication and organisational skills. The ability to work independently while fostering a positive volunteer environment. Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems. A current Senior First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement. A current National Police Check or Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one. Desirable Experience managing a retail or production nursery. Knowledge of native plant propagation and nursery production. Experience working with volunteers or within the not-for-profit sector. Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
