JobScout Pty Ltd are working to assist our client, Keppel Bay Sailing Club Pty Ltd (KBSC), an iconic hospitality and sailing destination in the heart of Yeppoon, overlooking the stunning Keppel Bay and the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Established in 1957, KBSC operates across four venues — The Clubhouse, The Spinnaker, Kracker's Bar & Grill, and Club Emu Park — and is proud to serve fresh, high-quality, modern Australian cuisine to a loyal base of members, families, and tourists. With a busy bistro and café trading seven days a week, plus a strong calendar of small, medium, and large functions and convention events, KBSC offers one of the most picturesque dining settings on the Capricorn Coast. Our client is now seeking a skilled and creative Chef to join their kitchen team. Working under the guidance of the Head Chef, the role is full-time and ongoing, requiring shifts across the week and weekend. Responsibilities of our Chef will include: ·Planning and organising the preparation and cooking of food across KBSC's venues, bistro, café, and function service. ·Working with the Head Chef to plan and revise regular and special menus, taking into account customer feedback, seasonal produce, and the sales performance of individual dishes. ·Estimating food and labour costs, ordering and purchasing food supplies, and optimising stock levels to cater to varying seasonal and event demands. ·Preparing, seasoning, and cooking food precisely to agreed recipes and standards, ensuring all dishes are produced to the highest quality. ·Preparing and cooking food to meet special dietary requirements and accommodating special requests from members and guests. ·Monitoring the quality, presentation, and plating of dishes at all stages of preparation and service to ensure consistency across all venues. ·Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising cooks and junior kitchen staff on cooking procedures during service. ·Discussing food preparation matters with managers, kitchen team members, and front-of-house staff, and conferring with superiors to resolve kitchen issues. ·Explaining and enforcing hygiene, food safety, and HACCP regulations, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout all kitchen areas at all times. ·Assisting with the selection and training of kitchen staff to build a skilled and cohesive team. ·Using freezing and preservation methods to reduce waste and applying effective portion and stock control to minimise food costs. ·Identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance kitchen efficiency and productivity. To be successfully considered for the role, you: ·Have at least three years' professional experience as a Chef. ·Possess an AQF Advanced Diploma, Diploma, or Certificate in Commercial Cookery or a related field. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. ·Have experience working in a full-service, high-volume kitchen. ·Have experience catering to a busy bistro, café, and functions or convention events. ·Have experience in menu planning, costing, and cost control. ·Possess a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP requirements. ·Have a genuine flair for creative, modern Australian cuisine. ·Have excellent knowledge and experience across all basic cooking techniques and styles. ·Are a natural, collaborative leader who can communicate effectively with the team and other staff. ·Are available to work across the week and weekends. ·Maintain a professional, high-standard attitude in the kitchen at all times.
