Solution Designer / Architect Sydney | Banking | Payments An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Solution Designer to join a high-performing technology team delivering large-scale, business-critical solutions within a banking and payments environment. This role will see you designing and delivering modern, cloud-integrated solutions, working across Java-based platforms, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures. You’ll play a key role in shaping secure, scalable, and high-performing payment and digital banking systems in a fast-paced Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Design scalable, resilient, and secure solutions across complex enterprise banking systems Translate business requirements into detailed technical designs, architectures, and delivery roadmaps Deliver end-to-end solutions, from initial design through to build, release, and production deployment Define and implement API-led and event-driven integration patterns across payments and core banking platforms Work closely with engineers on Java-based applications and microservices architectures Drive release planning and change management, ensuring safe and seamless production deployments Collaborate across squads and stakeholders to manage cross-platform dependencies and technical alignment Work with vendors and offshore teams to deliver high-quality, scalable technology outcomes Champion Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices, including CI/CD and automation Technical Skills & Experience 7 years’ experience in IT, with strong Solution Design or Solution Architecture experience Proven experience delivering end-to-end solutions in banking, payments, or financial services environments Strong background in Java (J2EE/Spring ecosystem preferred) and enterprise application design Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and JSON-based integrations Experience with microservices architecture and event streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka) Experience designing solutions in cloud environments (Azure preferred) Strong knowledge of distributed systems, system integration, and infrastructure considerations Experience with DevOps tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps), CI/CD pipelines, and automated delivery frameworks Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical teams Nice to Have Experience in retail banking, payments, or digital banking platforms Exposure to high-volume, real-time transaction systems Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments Exposure to vendor-led or offshore delivery models What’s on Offer Work on cutting-edge banking and payments platforms Exposure to modern architecture (cloud, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems) Collaborative, forward-thinking engineering culture Opportunity to influence enterprise-scale solution design and delivery Strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence For more information please call Tim Moynihan on 0404 780 144
