Category Manager – Procurement (Labour Services) | Contract | Fortitude Valley A leading Queensland water utility is looking for an experienced Category Manager to join their Procurement & Supply Chain team on an initial contract through to January 2027. Flexible working on offer — hybrid (min. 2 days in office) with an optional 9-day fortnight, based in Fortitude Valley. About the role This is a specialist procurement contract focused on the labour services category. You'll be responsible for developing the overarching strategy and sourcing plan for all subcategories within labour services, then leading its implementation. Working within a centre-led procurement framework, your responsibilities will include: Developing and implementing category strategies and sourcing plans aligned with business objectives Managing end-to-end sourcing activities from initiation through to contract execution, ensuring policy and ethical compliance Conducting market analysis and leveraging spend, supplier, and operational data to inform strategy Preparing and presenting high-quality commercial submissions to senior leadership and the Executive Leadership Team Developing and overseeing contract management plans, conducting assurance reviews and monitoring supplier performance Negotiating contracts, variations, exemptions and deeds using approved templates Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities while managing risk and ensuring governance compliance Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders Integrating ESG considerations into sourcing decisions Maintaining category dashboards and analytics models to support ongoing decision-making Conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies across your category portfolio Key selection Criteria: Specialist experience in the labour services category — this is essential Demonstrated experience developing and implementing a category strategy and sourcing plan across complex, multi-subcategory portfolios Degree in business, finance, procurement, supply chain or related field — and/or significant work experience in the procurement profession MCIPS or equivalent accreditation desirable 5–10 years' experience in category management, strategic sourcing or procurement Strong contract and commercial acumen, including experience preparing tender documents and negotiating terms Proven stakeholder and supplier relationship management skills Experience preparing and presenting submissions to senior leadership Proficiency in ERP and Source to Pay systems If interested, please apply via seek.
