This isn't a role for a Speech Pathologist who wants to follow a script. It is for someone who notices what others miss. Who pauses before jumping to conclusions. Who understands that communication is never just what we can see or hear. If you've ever felt frustrated working in environments that say they're "neuro-affirming" but still prioritise correction over connection, you will feel the difference here. At Converse Therapy, we are intentional in how we understand communication and support connection, and we're looking for a Speech Pathologist who wants to be part of that. The kind of clinician who thrives here: You have attention to detail, not because someone is watching, but because it matters to you. You're confident in how you communicate. You can hold your ground when needed, while still building strong, respectful relationships with families, schools, and other professionals. You're comfortable working independently, but you don't want to work in isolation. You value collaboration, reflection, and being surrounded by people who think deeply about their work. You're naturally curious. You don't just ask what's happening, you ask why. And you care about supporting people to communicate in ways that are authentic to them, not just ways that look "typical" to others. You are passionate about: Authentic connection - with the people you support and with each other Confident communication - being clear, honest, and respectful in how we work with others Curiosity and reflection - taking the time to think about what we're doing and why Collaboration and shared thinking - not working in silos, but building understanding together You'll likely connect with this role if you: Value and celebrate difference – you are drawn to neuro-affirming, strengths-based practice for all ages, and you apply it in real clinical decisions Support people to be their authentic selves - not asking them to change who they are to fit the expectations of others Understand communication beyond what's visible – you look beyond behaviour and want to understand meaning, intent, and context (especially for the complex human's others have given up on) Solving problems excites you - you know everyone deserves the chance to be understood and you have experience with AAC (or you're excited to develop in this area) Take initiative and ownership over your work Want to contribute to something bigger than just your own caseload What this role actually looks like: This is a community-based, mobile role - not clinic-bound. Your work will happen where it matters most: homes, schools, and community environments. You'll have flexibility in how you structure your day, with a high level of autonomy. You'll be responsible for: Delivering neuro-affirming, individualised support that reflects how you understand communication Supporting meaningful, functional communication in ways that genuinely fit into people's everyday lives Communicating clearly and confidently with families, schools, and support teams Keeping documentation that is thoughtful, accurate, and reflects the quality of your clinical reasoning Building strong referral pathways through work that people value, trust, and actively recommend Contributing to the growth and direction of the practice, not just working within it There is also space for career progression and growth for the right person who is interested in mentoring, supervising and leading change. About Converse Therapy & Supports Converse was developed initially to meet the needs of Frankie, who wanted to balance her love of speech therapy with the reality of also wanting to live her own life and have her own adventures. As it turns out, this can be hard when working five days a week in a profession with a long history of burnout. What started as one person trying to create a more sustainable way of working naturally grew into something bigger, attracting therapists who shared the same energy, values, and genuine love of people. The soul of Converse is built by the therapists who work together - people who value connection, celebrate unique quirks, love a bit of oversharing, and bring warmth to work every day. Everyone is wonderfully quirky in their own way, and there is something really exciting about helping people feel confident and comfortable being themselves. Our work is grounded in providing functional, human support - focusing on what is meaningful and useful in everyday life. The way we work We trust our clinicians to think, reflect, and take ownership of their work, because this kind of work requires it. You will have autonomy in your role, with the expectation that you are thoughtful and committed. You will not be working on your own. We work as a team, talking things through, sharing ideas, and supporting each other. It's normal to bring a session, a clinical question, or something you are unsure about to the team to explore together. We expect people to engage with their work, think about what they are doing, and take responsibility for it. We don't expect everyone to be the same, but we do expect people to approach their work with care and intention.
