Charlestown, NSW Position Objective The Casework Support Officer is a position which focuses on documentation. Casework Support Officers focus on meeting administrative standards of the State’s regulatory standards (Office of Children’s Guardian, Permanency and Support Plan, Human Service Standards, National Standards for Disability Services). Casework Support Officers organise and complete documentation in alignment with Allambi’s Needs Based Restorative Framework and the Child or Young person’s individual permanency goals. Position Summary The role of the Casework Support Officer requires skills in attention to detail, time management, autonomy and sound knowledge of the State’s regulatory standards. The Casework Support Officer has an integral role in accurately capturing information discussed during care team meetings, case conferences, individual service planning meetings and translating these into individual Case Plan goals for children, young people and participants. The Casework Support Officer ensures up to date communication through documentation between stakeholders. The Casework Support Officer is also responsible for liaising directly with internal and external stakeholders. Professional competencies and skills required Experience in working with children, young people and participants with complex and difficult emotional and behavioural issues, within a residential care context. An understanding of the impact of trauma on children, and their families. Theoretical understandings of attachment and trauma informed care. An understanding of physical, intellectual and sensory disabilities. Knowledge of the Child Protection Act, Official Children’s Guardian standards, Permanency and Support Plan, Human Services Standards and National Disability Service Standards. Knowledge of the legal and ethical guidelines governing requirements for mandatory reporting Ability to use collaborative practice principles when working with other stakeholders. Understanding of screening, intake, transition and exit assessment procedures. Skills to engage with the family members of the children, young people and participants, work with families, and assist in the maintenance of appropriate family relationships. Skills and strategies to manage the safety of children, young people and participants, and staff, through attention to detail, ability to manage risk, and report all concerns or incidents as per Allambi policy and procedure. Ability to manage client files in compliance with Allambi policy and procedure, contractual and statutory requirements. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding the child, young person’s or participant’s information and that of their family. Willingness to work within Allambi Workplace Health and Safety policy and procedure, as well as WHS legislation, and report all hazards and incidents. Willingness to implement all Allambi policies and procedures, particularly in relation to maintaining the residential house, all files and other paperwork. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, to complete the Case Plans and other essential reports and forms, in a timely manner. Computer literacy. Ability to perform concise and accurate data entry Ability to work autonomously with a high level of attention to detail Ability to utilise, record, store and retrieve information from client files to effectively complete tasks Ability to file and maintain client database records both digital and hard copy Ability to prioritise, organise and complete set tasks given according to demanding time lines Ability to identify potential issues and aid in achieving positive outcomes Ability to negotiate and achieve positive outcomes when problem solving Ability to work both independently and part of a team Experience in the use of Microsoft office applications – word processing, spreadsheet, internet and emailing Communicate effectively via written, technological, oral and interpersonal avenues Knowledge of Allambi Care policies and procedures Hold a Diploma in Community Services or a related field. Key areas of work Organise all relevant information about the child, young person or participant and work collaboratively with the Therapeutic Specialist to document an assessment plan, which may include collecting information from case files and other service providers. Collate any information needed prior to and organise aspects of the assessment of the child, young person or participant and their family. Document permanency Case Plans with recommendations from the Therapeutic Specialist to ascertain the individual needs of the young person from the comprehensive intake, transition or exit assessment. Organise, attend and document Care Team meetings. Be responsible for collating all information that is required for these meetings. Maintain timely client and casework records, including client information system records Participate in reflective practice with a commitment to improving service quality and allow the growth of the team in relation to practice. Ensure administrative alignment with the State regulatory standards (NSW Framework for Therapeutic OOHC Core Principals, and the Ten Essential Elements or Victorian Human Service Standards). Liaise with DCJ / DHHS for each child or young person and organise Care Team meetings to assist with assessment and formation of Case Plans and the implementation of interventions required. Prepare Panel reports, Complex Needs applications and Away from Placements forms. Facilitate collaborative practice through the ongoing development of relationships with the Care Team members and through maintaining effective communication that will facilitate the flow of information between team members, clients and their families, as well as other relevant professionals. Gather, store and manage accreditation evidence for the regulatory bodies Update client files in line with issues identified through file audits in collaboration with House Manager. Undertake and coordinate initial set-up of internal client files and placement files. Maintain and monitor client files and information within internal files and placement files Ensure up to date client information is requested from Department of Communities and Justice or Department of Health and Human Services Review and edit client incident reports and train/advise author of any changes required providing feedback where necessary. Coordinate set-up of new residential housing, including but limited to; paperwork and house filing system and information gathering on clients. Attend case conferences, reviews, care team meetings, Individual Service Planning meetings and leaving care meetings.
