Job Overview A well-established residential and events-based hospitality operation is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead a high-volume kitchen delivering daily dining services, conferencing, and large-scale events. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially minded chef who thrives in a structured, community-focused environment and enjoys balancing operational excellence with team development and guest experience. Working across both academic and conference periods, the successful candidate will oversee all kitchen operations, menu development, financial performance, food safety compliance, and staff leadership while maintaining consistently high culinary standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all day-to-day kitchen operations across dining services, events, and catering functions Develop and review seasonal menus that balance quality, dietary requirements, guest feedback, and cost control Drive strong kitchen culture through leadership, mentoring, recruitment, training, and performance management Manage food and labour costs in line with operational budgets and performance targets Oversee purchasing, supplier relationships, stock control, and inventory management Ensure full compliance with food safety, HACCP, and workplace health and safety standards Support major events, conferences, formal dinners, and community functions Maintain strong collaboration with operational and front-of-house teams to deliver a seamless guest experience About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a chef, including at least 3 years in a leadership role Proven experience managing high-volume kitchen operations Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting and P&L management Excellent leadership and team development capability Sound knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and OHS compliance Strong organisational and communication skills Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Cert III, IV or higher) Current Food Safety Supervisor certification Highly Regarded Experience in conference, events, or large-scale catering environments Exposure to residential, education, or community-based hospitality operations Experience managing operational transitions and seasonal service demands What’s on Offer Stable full-time leadership opportunity Diverse and rewarding hospitality environment Strong operational support and established systems Opportunity to lead a passionate and service-focused kitchen team Variety across daily dining, functions, and events Applicants must hold full Australian working rights and be willing to complete relevant background checks, including a National Police Check and Working With Children Check.
