Senior / Staff Software Engineer (AI Systems & Platforms) Location: Sydney CBD Salary: Up to $250,000 super ESOP About the Company We’re working with a newly formed, AI native holding company that is redefining how services businesses are acquired, transformed, and scaled across Australia and New Zealand. Backed by venture funding with further investment on the horizon, the business is in its earliest stage, currently a tight knit team of three founders, with significant momentum and an ambitious roadmap ahead. With demand already outpacing engineering capacity, they are now building out their founding engineering team. The Opportunity This is a rare chance to join at the ground floor and help build core platforms from scratch. You’ll be working directly with the founders to design and engineer complex, scalable systems that underpin multiple businesses. The work is deeply technical and suited to engineers who enjoy solving hard problems, thinking from first principles, and operating with a high degree of autonomy. Expect a highly experimental environment where building, testing, and iterating is part of the daily rhythm. What You’ll Be Doing Designing and building core platform infrastructure from day one Working on complex system architecture and distributed systems Developing AI driven systems, including agentic workflows and RAG pipelines Contributing to research, experimentation, and rapid prototyping Collaborating closely with founders on technical direction and strategy What They’re Looking For Strong engineering fundamentals with first principles thinking Experience designing and building complex, scalable systems Practical experience working with AI/ML systems Exposure to areas such as: Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) Knowledge representation Agent based or autonomous systems Proactive mindset, with side projects or self driven work highly regarded Comfortable working in an early stage, high ownership environment Tech Environment Primary: TypeScript Also in use: Python, Rust Exploring: Go Note: Experience with this exact stack is not required.
