This is a hands on role suited to someone who enjoys building scalable backend systems, improving engineering practices and working in a fast moving environment where technical decisions have real impact. About the role You will work across backend engineering, platform development and production systems, helping improve the reliability, scalability and performance of a live AI product. This role would suit an engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity, enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to have influence beyond just writing code. Key responsibilities • Build and improve backend and platform services • Work across cloud infrastructure, APIs and production systems • Contribute to reliability, observability and operational improvements • Support strong engineering practices across security, DevOps and SRE • Help improve system performance and reduce production issues • Work closely with technical and product stakeholders • Contribute to architectural and technical decision making What we are looking for • Strong backend or platform engineering experience • Experience working with production systems at scale • Strong experience with Python, TypeScript, AWS or similar technologies • Good understanding of DevOps, infrastructure, security or SRE principles • Ability to work in a fast paced, early stage environment • Strong problem solving and communication skills • Pragmatic approach to balancing quality, speed and business outcomes Nice to have • Experience working with AI, LLMs or conversational technology • Experience in startup or scale up environments • Exposure to voice, real time systems or cloud based platforms • Security, DevOps or site reliability engineering experience Why apply This is a great opportunity to join a growing AI business at an early stage and play a key role in shaping its engineering capability.
