About the Role In this position, you will support a participant who requires continuous supervision, a structured environment, and a proactive, safety-led approach to care. The role involves working with behaviours of concern, including rapid escalation, emotional dysregulation, physical aggression, sensory-seeking behaviours, and absconding risk. Support must be provided in line with the participant’s Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP), Acute Management Plan (AMP), and risk management strategies, with a strong focus on prevention, de-escalation, and maintaining safety. This role may involve working in a 2:1 support model, and is best suited to Support Workers with previous experience in complex behaviour support or high-intensity environments. Key Responsibilities Provide safe, person-centred support to participants with complex behavioural support needs Maintain a calm, predictable, and structured environment to reduce triggers and escalation Use trauma-informed practices and low-arousal approaches when supporting emotional regulation Recognise early warning signs of escalation and respond using appropriate de-escalation strategies Support participants with daily activities, routines, community access, and transport as required Maintain safe supervision practices in line with risk management strategies Follow all relevant support plans, behaviour support strategies, and escalation protocols Complete shift notes, incident reports, and handovers accurately and objectively Communicate clearly and consistently with internal teams, on-call staff, and relevant stakeholders Use systems such as mobile phones, email, Microsoft Teams, and other reporting platforms confidently About You We are looking for Support Workers who are: Calm, patient, and emotionally regulated Consistent, reliable, and able to build trust through predictable support Skilled in responding to distress using empathy rather than control Confident in high-intensity support environments Proactive in identifying risks and responding early Strong communicators who can provide reassurance and clear direction Able to work collaboratively within a team and follow structured support approaches Professional in documentation, reporting, and incident escalation You will understand that behaviour is often communication and be able to respond in a way that supports safety, dignity, and positive outcomes.
