Data Modeller – Payroll Compliance & Remediation We are seeking a skilled Data Modeller to join a high-profile payroll remediation program, focused on delivering accurate, auditable, and scalable solutions for complex underpayment and back-pay calculations. This is a fully remote opportunity, ideal for someone with strong Australian payroll domain expertise and a passion for working with complex, time-based data. You will play a critical role in designing and delivering data models that underpin payroll compliance outcomes, ensuring transparency, traceability, and regulatory confidence across historical payroll periods. Key Responsibilities Design and maintain calculation-ready payroll data models to support large-scale remediation activities Transform payroll, time & attendance, and HR data into a canonical remediation model for historical recalculations Develop data assets to support: Award & Enterprise Agreement pay rules Penalties, overtime, and allowances Apportionment of hours and pay across time boundaries Averaging arrangements and “higher-of” comparisons Multi-year remediation lookback calculations Map and reconcile data across multiple payroll and timekeeping systems Implement data lineage, controls, and auditability across all data layers Perform data quality checks and support reconciliation of recalculated vs original payroll outcomes Produce audit-ready documentation (data dictionaries, mappings, assumptions, model designs) Collaborate with Payroll, IR, Legal, and remediation teams to validate outputs and resolve issues Key Outcomes Delivery of a fully documented, version-controlled canonical data model End-to-end data lineage and audit trails (source → staging → model → calculation → reconciliation) Data models that enable accurate application of award rules, averaging, and recalculation logic Clear reconciliation of variances with sign-off from key stakeholders Scalable solutions capable of processing large datasets across extended lookback periods Strong stakeholder confidence through transparent documentation and governance About You You bring a strong blend of data modelling expertise and Australian payroll knowledge , with experience working in complex remediation or transformation programs. Key Experience: 3–5 years in data modelling, data engineering, or analytics roles (with time-based data focus) Proven experience in Australian payroll remediation or underpayment programs Deep understanding of: Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements Penalties, overtime, allowances, and loadings Averaging arrangements and minimum engagement rules Superannuation (OTE vs non-OTE), PAYG, payroll tax, SGC Strong ability to design logical and physical data models for payroll calculations Advanced SQL skills and experience building calculation-ready datasets Experience integrating and reconciling data across payroll and time & attendance systems Strong understanding of effective-dated data, historical rate changes, and lookback calculations Ability to produce clear, audit-ready documentation Why Apply?
