GEGAC Dental is seeking a motivated and reliable Dental Assistant to join our busy and rewarding Aboriginal Primary Health Care team. Organisational Profile GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 200 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education. GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, with culture at the heart of everything we do. Position Purpose The GEGAC Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the delivery of culturally safe, high-quality oral health services to Aboriginal community in/around the Bairnsdale and East Gippsland region. The role contributes to improved oral health outcomes through clinical support, client engagement, infection prevention, care coordination and administrative assistance. All clinical activities are undertaken under the direction and supervision of an appropriately qualified oral health clinician and within the scope of practice of a Dental Assistant. Key Selection Criteria Knowledge & Understanding: ·A demonstrated interest in, and understand of, Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing principles and the value and role of Aboriginal Health Services. ·Knowledge of infection prevention and sterilisation standards. Skills & Experience: ·Demonstrated dental assisting experience in a clinical environment and knowledge and understanding of contemporary dental techniques. ·Strong interpersonal and communication skills especially with Aboriginal community and families. ·Ability to maintain accurate electronic records and a demonstrated understanding of confidentiality requirements pertaining to client care and client records. Personal Attributes: ·Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. ·Strong organisational and time management skills.
