Position: Cook Position Type : Full-Time, ongoing Salary: $76,500 to $81,500 plus superannuation per annum Location: Ormeau, Gold Coast QLD 4208 Our client The Willow Tree Cafe, operated by Bella Hospitality Pty Ltd as trustee for The PR Family Trust, is a breakfast and brunch venue located in the Ormeau neighbourhood of the Gold Coast, Queensland. The cafe specialises in serving breakfast and brunch meals, including hearty options and sweet treats, complemented by a range of quality beverages. The business is committed to delivering a consistent, high-quality dining experience to its local community and visitors. The Cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of the cafe’s menu items to a high and consistent standard. Working as part of the kitchen team, the Cook ensures that all food is prepared safely, hygienically and efficiently, and that dishes meet the presentation and quality expectations of the business. The role is integral to the smooth operation of the kitchen during busy breakfast and brunch service periods. Key Duties and Responsibilities: •Examining foodstuffs and ingredients on delivery and in storage to ensure quality, freshness and compliance with food safety standards. •Regulating the temperatures of ovens, grills, cooktops, fryers and other cooking equipment to achieve consistent results across the breakfast and brunch service. •Preparing and cooking the full range of menu items, including hot breakfasts, brunch dishes, hearty mains, light meals and sweet treats. •Seasoning food during the cooking process and adjusting recipes to maintain a consistent standard of taste and presentation. •Portioning cooked food, plating dishes, and adding sauces, dressings and garnishes in accordance with the cafe’s presentation standards. •Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergen-aware options requested by patrons. •Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities, applying correct labelling, stock rotation (FIFO) and date-control practices. •Assisting with menu planning, developing new and seasonal dishes, and estimating food and ingredient requirements for ordering purposes. •Monitoring stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies and liaising with suppliers to ensure continuity of service. •Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) requirements and Queensland food safety regulations. •Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment safely and reporting any faults or maintenance needs. •Training, supervising and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff and apprentices as required. •Complying with all workplace health and safety obligations and the policies and procedures of the business. Requirements: Qualifications required: ·An AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or an equivalent qualification recognised in Australia), or at least three (3) years of relevant experience that may substitute for the formal qualification in accordance with ANZSCO requirements for the occupation. ·Where required, a successful skills assessment for the occupation of Cook (ANZSCO 351411) from the relevant assessing authority. Sills and Experience Required: ·Demonstrated experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen, cafe or restaurant environment. ·Sound knowledge of breakfast, brunch and all-day dining cookery, including preparation of hot and cold dishes and sweet items. ·Working knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles. ·Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods. ·Familiarity with a la carte and high-volume service in a hospitality setting.
