Description Description To support the continued expansion of Canopius across Australia and New Zealand, we are seeking an experienced FINPRO underwriter to lead and further develop our open market Financial Lines offerings in the ANZ region. This role requires a practitioner with broad technical expertise across Financial and Professional Lines who can drive profitable, sustainable portfolio growth. Based in Melbourne, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Financial Lines – APAC and play a pivotal role in shaping the underwriting strategy for FINPRO, including Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, and D&O. This is a highly autonomous, market-facing role suited to someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Portfolio Growth & Leadership • Build and develop the FINPRO (Financial & Professional Lines) portfolio across Australia and New Zealand with a strong focus on Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, and D&O risks. • Drive profitable and sustainable long-term growth of the FINPRO portfolio. • Provide decisive insight and opinion to shape the underwriting philosophy and strategy for the FINPRO vertical. • Operate as a key contributor to the future success and direction of the financial lines business in the region. Underwriting & Technical Expertise • Apply broad technical underwriting knowledge across financial and professional lines. • Underwrite a profitable Open Market Financial Lines portfolio with autonomy and sound judgment. • Deploy strategic thinking to assess risk, structure solutions, and guide portfolio growth. Relationship Management & Market Engagement • Actively represent and promote the Canopius brand and underwriting philosophy in the market. • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other external stakeholders. • Collaborate effectively with internal teams across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia Pacific. Leverage your own broker relationships throughout Australia Demonstrate flexibility to work on selected cross sell opportunities Tertiary accreditation would be an advantage. Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
