Known for its warm hospitality and authentic flavours, this busy venue specialises in traditional North Indian cuisine, offering a rich selection of classic dishes prepared using time‑honoured techniques. The restaurant is renowned for its aromatic curries, biryanis, tandoori specialities, freshly baked breads, and a wide range of vegetarian and non‑vegetarian favourites. With a strong local following and regular function bookings, it remains a popular destination for diners seeking a genuine Indian dining experience. Due to continued growth, our client is now seeking an experienced Chef to join and lead their dedicated kitchen team. Location – Preston Vic Tenure Full time ongoing, availability across weekdays and weekends is required. Salary – negotiable in the range $80k to $85k plus superannuation per annum Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and motivate the kitchen team to consistently deliver high‑quality dishes. Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of kitchen staff. Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic Indian cuisine. Manage stock levels, ordering, cost control, and kitchen budgeting. Collaborate with management to develop, refine, and introduce new menu items that reflect traditional Indian flavours. Maintain strict compliance with OH&S, Food Safety, and hygiene standards. Work closely with the management team to support smooth daily operations. About You Passionate about Indian cuisine and knowledgeable about traditional cooking methods, spices, and regional flavours. Committed to delivering exceptional food quality and presentation. Able to lead a cohesive, positive, and productive kitchen environment. Calm, organised, and effective under pressure. Experienced in a similar professional kitchen environment Requirements to be considered for the role, you will: Hold relevant post‑secondary cookery qualifications (Diploma level or equivalent). Have at least one year, or more, of post‑qualification experience Be available to work across the week, including weekends. Demonstrate strong skills in time management, cost control, and efficient procurement. Possess a solid understanding of food safety, HACCP, and kitchen compliance. Be an effective people manager with the ability to bring out the best in your team. You must have unrestricted Australian working rights to be considered.
