$137,963.00 per annum 12% superannuation 2 x Full time, ongoing opportunities Wadawurrung/ Geelong based role (hybrid – 3 days in office) About the opportunity The Claims Specialist in the Medical and Like team will play a pivotal role in leading key objectives and launching various programs in line with business priorities. The role will provide technical advice and support to agents as well as other business areas and will be instrumental in driving performance in critical measures including sustainability, APA and service. The Claims Specialist is expected to take a leading role in development, implementation and evaluation of claims management initiatives along with supporting the overall team as required. This role will be expected to be flexible in supporting these and other projects within the branch and division, dependent on business priorities. Key accountabilities Provides leadership and expert advice in the technical application of the Act, policies, guidelines and its interpretation to Agents. Lead or actively participate and support the development, implementation and evaluation of claims management initiatives in line with business priorities. Recommends strategic directions for area of responsibility and consider wider agency implications when making decisions, particularly in relation to the policies involving medical and like services. Present to relevant business areas and leadership on current programs of work. Make recommendations for improvement to processes or policy identified through data and maintain data management systems. Develop and implement effective monitoring frameworks for all initiatives implemented to measure effectiveness. Consider and effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions to achieve team planning and project outcomes in line with organisational goals and objectives. Co-ordinate and participate in claim reviews, audits and health checks with Agents. Technical understanding and current operational claims management experience. Lead or actively participate in, and provide constructive input to, forums involving WorkSafe staff and external stakeholders as required. Skills and experience Demonstrated understanding of the legal, policy and claims operational environment governing WorkSafe and be able to identify and develop initiatives, policy and responses in terms of relevant legislation and Acts Ability to co-ordinate the activities of others and influence senior stakeholders to an agreed outcome Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and build relationships with senior management, agents, employer groups, unions and internal stakeholders Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills Strong facilitation and negotiation skills and the ability to utilize data received from stakeholders as well as analysis and research as a basis for informing decision making across a diverse range of stakeholders Proven ability to translate policy into operational work practices and procedures Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritise work and resources within organizational constraints and a changing work environment Preparedness to question existing policies and practices and recommend new ideas Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification or industry experience Sound knowledge and understanding of the principles and operation of WorkSafe, its agents and the relevant Victorian workers’ compensation legislation Expertise and knowledge of the claim’s environment Working with us At WorkSafe, our goal is for every employee to feel connected, safe, and valued within their team, for teams to feel appreciated in the workplace, and for WorkSafe to be respected in the community.
