Job Description Position: EL1 Lead Data Analysts Location: Canberra Start date: July 2026 Duration: Until June 2028 with potential extension option for a further 12 months Pay rate: Rates negotiable dependent on skills and experience Security requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearance Overview: An exciting opportunity is available for experienced EL1 Lead Data Analysts to support the delivery of business intelligence and reporting solutions within a large federal government environment. This role will contribute to major data and analytics initiatives supporting operational and strategic decision-making across complex business areas. The successful candidates will work within a high-performing data services team responsible for delivering reporting products, dashboards, statistical analysis and data-driven insights to a broad range of stakeholders. Responsibilities: Perform data extraction, manipulation and analysis activities Develop dashboards, visualisations and reporting products using Tableau, Business Objects and Power BI Create charts, tables, dashboards and BI wireframes to support reporting and analysis requirements Engage with stakeholders to manage data product enhancements and resolve data integrity issues Utilise internal tools and reporting solutions to support business requirements Analyse and extract reports in line with relevant data governance and disclosure requirements Troubleshoot and resolve code and data-related issues Work collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders to support organisational objectives Identify trends, patterns and correlations within large and complex datasets Recommend process improvements and reporting enhancements Support ongoing monitoring, refinement and optimisation of BI products Develop and maintain technical and business documentation including functional and technical specifications Contribute to knowledge transfer activities and maintain documentation in accordance with recordkeeping requirements Experience/requirements: Demonstrated experience working with Tableau and/or Business Objects, including Tableau Desktop and Server Strong SQL and ETL skills for data extraction and transformation Experience with Power BI and data visualisation tools Experience working with relational databases including SQL Server and Oracle Knowledge of ETL and analytics tools such as Alteryx Exposure to cloud data platforms including AWS and Azure Experience using programming languages such as SQL, Python and/or R for data analysis and extraction Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and communicate technical concepts clearly Relevant tertiary qualifications in Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Statistical Methods or a related discipline highly regarded Minimum 5 years’ experience in data analytics and business intelligence environments preferred Apply now or contact SOS Recruitment on 6260 8888 for a confidential discussion.
