We're partnering with a large government organisation undergoing a major Safety Management System (SMS) transformation , and they're looking for a high-calibre contractor to play a pivotal role in shaping what "good" looks like across the business. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of strategy and delivery partnering with senior leaders, while staying close to the action and driving tangible safety improvements on the ground. The Opportunity You'll be embedded within a high-impact transformation program, supporting the review, redesign, and rollout of key SMS components to uplift capability across the organisation. Partnering closely with a dedicated Safety Project Manager , you will: Design and refine safety frameworks, policies, and procedures that are practical and fit-for-purpose Translate complex OHS legislation and regulatory requirements into clear, operational solutions Drive implementation of improved safety systems, assurance frameworks, and controls Build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels Support audit, risk, and continuous improvement initiatives Help embed a sustainable, mature safety culture This role is ideal for someone who can zoom out to see the big picture , but confidently roll up their sleeves to get things done . About You You're a capable and confident safety professional who brings: Proven experience as a Senior Safety Advisor / WHS specialist in government, utilities, infrastructure, or similarly complex environments Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance frameworks, and ISO standards (ISO 45001 highly regarded) Hands-on experience in developing or uplifting Safety Management Systems (SMS) The ability to engage, influence, and build credibility with diverse stakeholders Experience across risk management, audits, investigations, and assurance Strong written skills, particularly in policy and system development Most importantly, you are pragmatic, solutions-focused, and comfortable navigating evolving project environments .
