As a Horticulturist, you will undertake a variety of hands-on horticultural maintenance activities, helping to ensure our parks and public spaces remain safe, attractive, and enjoyable for the community. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll contribute to the delivery of high-quality open space maintenance services while prioritising safety, environmental responsibility and customer service. What you'll be doing Maintaining parks, gardens, streetscapes, and other horticultural assets across the Shire Undertake planting, mulching, watering, fertilising and weed control activities Carry out turf maintenance, including mowing, whipper snipping, and turf renovation practices Operating and maintaining horticultural plant, equipment, and machinery Applying horticultural chemicals in accordance with legislative and Council requirements Conducting site safety assessments and implementing safe work practices Reporting asset defects and maintenance requirements Providing courteous and professional customer service to residents and stakeholders Maintaining accurate work records and participating in continuous improvement initiatives About you You are a motivated horticultural professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and enjoys working outdoors as part of a team. To be successful in this role, you will have: Essential Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent qualification ChemCert (AQF3) or equivalent qualification NSW White Card Current Class MR Licence or willingness to obtain within six months of appointment Recent experience in horticultural maintenance or a similar role Demonstrated knowledge of horticultural practices and chemical application Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements Effective communication and teamwork skills Desirable Certificate IV in Horticulture or equivalent Traffic Control qualifications Experience operating medium rigid trucks and trailers Experience coordinating resources and working across multiple site Why join us?
