Job Summary Drive commercial property claims from notification through to settlement, using delegated authority and advanced policy interpretation to make decisions that hold up. This role exists to manage a defined portfolio end-to-end within the Lloyd’s and domestic insurance frameworks. It suits an experienced commercial claims professional who wants autonomy, technical depth, and meaningful influence on outcomes. Benefits End-to-end ownership of a commercial property claims portfolio (assessment, decision-making, authorisation of payments and settlement), so your work directly impacts final outcomes Make decisions within delegated claims authorities using robust coverage assessment and clear, factual documentation for acceptance or declinature Hybrid working model based in Melbourne CBD : 3 days in the office and 2 days from home Hands-on claims leadership with loss adjusters and experts including appointing providers, instructing investigations, and actioning assessor or adjusting/expert reports Real negotiation exposure to achieve fair and reasonable settlements, working with brokers, owners, lawyers, contractors and suppliers Process improvement influence through a strong understanding of systems and workflows, plus feedback to Underwriting when claims issues arise Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of commercial property claims end-to-end , from notification to resolution Assess new claims and determine coverage based on policy wording, relevant legislation and claims workflow requirements Apply authority and market frameworks (including Lloyd’s of London) to make coverage and settlement decisions Appoint and direct loss adjusters, service providers and expert resources , including support for investigations and reporting actions Negotiate settlement outcomes and, where required, draft clear coverage responses and decline letters Maintain portfolio administration in line with workflow guidelines, legislation and statutory compliance , including authorising payments Requirements 2-5 years’ commercial property claims handling experience , managing claims end-to-end through to settlement Strong experience handling within a claims authority framework and making coverage decisions from policy wording Evidence of advanced capability in interpreting policy wording and relevant legislation Experience negotiating fair and reasonable outcomes and managing settlement discussions professionally Hybrid role requires availability for office days (3 days in the Melbourne CBD office) Familiarity with the Lloyd’s of London market is desirable Strong written and verbal communication, with high-quality documentation standards Apply Now or Refer a Friend If you think this could be the role for you, please apply now.
