Role The Senior Legal Counsel provides front-end legal support to project and bid teams, focusing on winning work in a legally compliant, commercially sustainable and risk-aware manner. The role is primarily responsible for advising tenders, negotiating and finalising head contracts, and ensuring proposed risk positions are consistent with internal guidelines, authorities and approval processes. The role works closely with bid managers, commercial managers and executives to identify, mitigate and appropriately price legal and commercial risks before contract award. Other responsibilities include negotiating subcontracts to ensure effective risk flow-down, with broader legal, governance and advisory matters managed as ancillary support to operations. This is a senior individual contributor role and requires autonomy, judgement and commercial leadership in high-risk and high-value work. Knowledge & Experience To secure this opportunity we are seeking an individual who has the following knowledge and experience; Tertiary qualifications; nationally Australian recognised bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent Current practising certificate and relevant legal qualifications (LLB or equivalent) Minimum 6-8 years' post-admission experience at a law firm and/or inhouse, specialising in front-end legal advice within civil construction, ideally on infrastructure projects such as roads, pipelines, oil, gas, renewables or utilities Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare legal advice, reports, policies, contractual documentation, and executive recommendations Advanced ability to interpret complex contractual frameworks, project objectives, delivery schedules, and risk allocation to provide pragmatic legal advice Apply Please call Leigh Rowbottom from Talent Associates on 1300 363 445 or click " apply now " to lodge an application for the role.
