Kick-Start Your Career in Construction Estimating Design Tiles is offering a valuable 3-month unpaid internship opportunity for a motivated student or recent graduate looking to gain practical experience in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, tender preparation, and project costing. Working closely with our Senior Estimator, you will gain hands-on exposure to live commercial and residential construction projects while developing industry-relevant skills that can enhance your future employment opportunities. What You Will Learn During the internship, you will gain practical experience in: Reading and interpreting architectural and construction drawings. Quantity take-offs and measurement calculations. Preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Cost planning and estimating processes. Tender preparation and quotation development. Reviewing project specifications and scopes of work. Construction project documentation and reporting. Building professional relationships with builders and contractors. Commercial aspects of the building and construction industry. Key Responsibilities Assist with identifying and developing project scopes of work. Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications. Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities and cost plans. Assist in preparing tenders, quotations, and design variation pricing. Prepare quotation reports and follow up with builders regarding project updates. Assist with reviewing and evaluating project cost estimates. Help maintain builder and client communication records. Support the estimating team with administrative and project-related tasks. Ideal Candidate We are seeking someone who is: Currently studying or recently completed a qualification in Construction Management, Building, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline. Interested in pursuing a career in estimating, project coordination, or construction management. Able to read and interpret construction drawings (preferred). Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. Well-organised with excellent time management abilities. Professional, reliable, and eager to learn. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Desirable Skills Exposure to Cubit Estimating Software. Basic understanding of construction methodologies and terminology.
