About the company: Our client is building a new model for zero-emission heavy road freight in Australia - the first of its kind! They combine electric prime movers, high-power charging infrastructure, depot operations and operational software to deliver reliable, commercially viable, zero-emission transport services for major freight customers. About the role: Joining in the founding stages, you will have the chance to be part of the exciting growth journey! You will be responsible for translating customer commitments into operational delivery while building the operating systems, team capability and performance culture required to scale zero-emission heavy freight operations across the Australian eastern seaboard. As the business moves from development and pilot operations into full commercial execution, you will play a key leadership role in establishing operational capability from the ground up. Implementing best-practice systems and processes, and helping define what high-performance zero-emission freight operations look like in Australia. Key Responsibilities: Build and implement scalable transport operating systems, standard operating procedures, work instructions and operational controls to support rapid growth Contribute to the implementation and optimisation of transport systems including TMS workflows, compliance systems and performance reporting Lead day-to-day transport operations to ensure safe, reliable and high-quality service delivery, managing dispatch, scheduling, fleet utilisation and service execution Resolve operational disruptions, delays, breakdowns and service exceptions; ensure customer service commitments are consistently achieved; support launch readiness for new customer operations Recruit, lead, coach and develop drivers and operational team members; build a culture of accountability, professionalism and high performance Lead onboarding, training and operational competency development; conduct performance reviews and development planning Own and improve operational performance across key metrics including on-time pickup/delivery, fleet utilisation and uptime, driver productivity, revenue-generating asset utilisation, cost efficiency, safety/compliance performance, customer service levels, and claims/service failures Align operational resources with transport demand forecasts; support planning for growth, peak periods and customer ramp-ups; identify capacity constraints before they impact service delivery; support fleet deployment and operational scaling decisions Act as senior operational point of contact for service delivery matters; support customer operational reviews and issue resolution To be considered for this role you will need to possess the following: Tertiary qualification in Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience) Significant experience in heavy road freight transport operations leadership Strong understanding of Australian heavy vehicle compliance and operational regulatory requirements (HVNL, CoR, NHVR, fatigue management, WHS) Experience managing transport teams including drivers and operational staff Demonstrated experience implementing operational systems, procedures and performance frameworks Experience managing transport KPIs and driving operational performance improvement Commercial understanding of transport operating economics Experience in linehaul, regional freight, container transport and/or FMCG freight operations strongly preferred Experience in startup, scale-up or transformation environments is advantageous Experience with electric heavy vehicle operations is advantageous If you want to be part of something big and meaningful apply now Consultant Melissa Allison Business Manager - NW Professionals NSW mallison@nationalworkforce.com.au Reference number: 200644193 Profession:Manufacturing, Transport & LogisticsManufacturing, Transport & Logistics Company: NW Professional Services- Professional Date posted: 10th Jun, 2026
