CHEF (Full Time) Manakamana Pty Ltd t/a The Hungry Hiker Restaurant is seeking an experienced and qualified Chef to join our growing team in Tecoma, Victoria. We are a busy restaurant specializing in authentic Indian and Nepali cuisine and are looking for a passionate professional who can work in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment. Position Details Position: Chef (Full Time) Location: 3/1563-1565 Burwood Highway, Tecoma VIC 3160 Hours: Minimum 38 hours per week Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience) Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare and develop menus. Prepare menus to accommodate special dietary requirements. Prepare, cook and present a range of authentic Indian and Nepali dishes. Prepare and cook curries from various regions of India and Nepal. Prepare, cook and present tandoori dishes and Indian appetizers. Plan, prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner and daily specials. Create and manage food preparation schedules for kitchen staff. Monitor food quality and presentation standards. Manage food costs, stock control and inventory. Receive, store, rotate and maintain stock. Train and supervise kitchen staff where required. Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace hygiene and occupational health and safety requirements. Assist with catering functions and special events when required. Essential Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants must have: Relevant culinary qualification (Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent). At least one year of relevant commercial kitchen experience as a Chef or similar role. Demonstrated experience preparing Indian and Nepali cuisine. Experience preparing tandoori dishes and Indian appetizers. Strong understanding of food safety and workplace hygiene practices. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and organisational skills.
