Located in Blanchetown, South Australia, with a focus on authentic flavours, fresh ingredients and professional hospitality, Blanchetown Foodery continues to establish itself as a popular dining destination in the region. Due to continued business growth and increasing customer demand, Blanchetown Foodery is seeking to employ a full-time Chef to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to menu development across a range of cuisines. Chef – Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present a variety of multi cuisine dishes, ensuring high standards of quality, taste and presentation are consistently achieved. Develop and review menu offerings, taking into account customer preferences, dietary requirements, seasonal availability and business objectives. Monitor food quality throughout all stages of preparation, cooking and service to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction. Assist in the creation of new menu items and contribute to improving kitchen procedures, productivity and overall operational performance. Calculate food and labour requirements, manage stock levels and coordinate the ordering of ingredients and kitchen supplies. Oversee the storage, handling, freezing and preservation of food items to maintain quality, minimise wastage and comply with food safety standards. Supervise kitchen operations during service periods to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and delivered within expected timeframes. Provide guidance and training to kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food preparation methods and presentation standards. Support the recruitment, training and ongoing development of kitchen team members to maintain a skilled and productive workforce. Liaise with management and front-of-house staff regarding menu updates, customer feedback, dietary requirements and day-to-day kitchen operations. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and sanitation regulations while maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment. Monitor inventory levels, stock rotation and ingredient usage to ensure product freshness and effective cost control. Candidate Requirements Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and a Diploma of Hospitality Management, or equivalent qualifications. A minimum of one year of relevant experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment. Demonstrated ability to manage kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and quality control. Passion for creating high-quality dishes, with strong attention to presentation, flavour and culinary innovation. Sound knowledge of menu planning, food costing, portion control and inventory management. Strong organisational, communication and time-management skills, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
