Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced finance professional to support a large Queensland Government agency within its Strategic Investments and Enterprise Finance team. Working within the Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting function, this role will play a key part in delivering capital reporting, asset accounting, budget management and financial governance activities across a significant asset portfolio. About the Role You will provide specialist advice and support relating to capital projects, asset accounting, financial reporting and budget management, ensuring compliance with Queensland Government financial management frameworks and accounting standards. Key responsibilities include: Preparing and analysing monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, briefing notes and presentations on complex asset and capital management matters Providing insights and recommendations to management regarding capital expenditure, asset accounting and budget performance Ensuring annual capital budgets and budget revisions are accurately reflected in Queensland Treasury Budget Papers, Tridata and internal records Providing professional advice to business areas regarding Capital Work-in-Progress (CWIP), asset acquisitions and related accounting treatments Contributing to the development and review of capital management policies, procedures and financial controls Building and maintaining productive relationships with senior management, Queensland Treasury, auditors and external service providers Communicating complex capital and asset accounting information to a range of internal and external stakeholders Supporting compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements and relevant government policies Collaborating with finance team members to strengthen internal controls relating to capital processes and asset accounting Supporting the Manager, Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting with additional activities as required About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Strong experience in capital accounting, asset accounting, financial reporting and budget management Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and public sector financial management frameworks Advanced analytical, financial reporting and problem-solving skills The ability to interpret complex financial information and provide practical recommendations Well-developed written and verbal communication skills Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities Experience preparing reports, briefings and presentations for senior stakeholders Highly Desirable Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) Experience working within a Queensland Government or large public sector environment Knowledge of Queensland Treasury financial reporting and capital management requirements Rate: $79.00 - $84.00 per hour super Location: Brisbane CBD Contract Length: 5 Months This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your specialist capital and asset accounting expertise within a complex government environment while contributing to the effective management of significant public assets and investment programs.
