Our client is rebuilding their entire data platform on Microsoft Fabric , and they need a hands-on leader to own the end-to-end delivery: from migrating existing pipelines to building net-new capabilities. We are looking for someone who has led a small team of engineers in a player-coach capacity, and who has proven experience driving a complete data platform migration, ideally from a legacy ETL/BI stack to a modern cloud platform. This is a mid-size business with a lean team, so platform ownership in a resourceful, hands-on environment is key. We’re seeking candidates who can point to specific outcomes: what they migrated, how they led the effort, and what the before-and-after looked like. In this role, you’d lead a small team of three Data Analysts, setting the technical direction for ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers while still getting to architect and build alongside the team. This isn’t a pure management role; it’s for someone who wants to stay hands-on while driving a major platform transformation. What You'll Do Lead the Fabric rebuild: architecture, ETL/ELT, data modelling, governance Champion AI – identify and deliver practical use cases (Copilot, Azure OpenAI, Fabric AI) Lead and mentor a team of analysts/engineers while staying hands-on Manage legacy (SQL Server, Pentaho) and decommission it post-migration Own Power BI reporting and stakeholder communication What You Bring (Required) Hands-on team leadership experience Proven experience driving a data platform migration end-to-end, ideally from a legacy ETL/BI stack to a modern cloud platform Platform ownership in a lean environment Strong SQL, data modelling, and medallion architecture experience Power BI proficiency Stakeholder skills – able to translate technical to business language Microsoft Fabric experience (Bonus to have, though not mandatory) Retail knowledge (Bonus to have, though not mandatory) Why Join Them?
