Our government client is undertaking a significant cloud transformation programme and is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Optimisation Specialist to support the completion of its cloud migration and drive the next phase of modernisation. Working within a complex enterprise environment, you will help complete the migration of workloads into Azure VMware Solution (AVS) while leading the transition of applications and services towards Azure Native platforms. Key Responsibilities Complete outstanding cloud migration activities and resolve technical blockers Assess workloads currently hosted within Azure VMware Solution (AVS) Design and implement target-state Azure architectures Lead migration of workloads to Azure IaaS, PaaS, container, and cloud-native platforms Apply workload transformation strategies including Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Rebuild, Retire, and Retain Drive cloud optimisation initiatives including rightsizing, performance tuning, and cost reduction Support application modernisation initiatives Decommission legacy infrastructure and redundant platforms Ensure security, compliance, and governance requirements are maintained Produce technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials Collaborate with internal technology teams, vendors, and stakeholders What We're Looking For Proven experience delivering Azure migration and modernisation programmes Strong Azure VMware Solution (AVS) expertise Experience with Azure IaaS, PaaS, AKS, and cloud-native services Knowledge of Azure Landing Zones and migration frameworks (6R/7R) Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or Bicep Cloud optimisation and FinOps experience Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Desirable Previous New Zealand Government or public sector experience Azure certifications Experience working within regulated environments This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major government cloud transformation programme and help shape the organisation's future cloud environment.
