The technology team’s primary focus is on delivering secure, reliable and fit-for-purpose technology services that enable strong business performance and customer outcomes. The Test Lead is a key member of the Software Delivery team, responsible for leading and assuring the testing function. This role ensures software is tested effectively and achieves the required quality standards before release to production, with testing activities aligned to business needs, regulatory obligations, and delivery objectives.Key Duties and Responsibilities Lead the planning, coordination and execution of end‑to‑end test execution across functional, integration, regression, UAT, and non‑functional testing. Work with Application Owners, Solution Architects and Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to provide testing services across various stages of continual delivery Oversee defect identification, triage, prioritisation, and re‑testing Develop and maintain test plans, schedules, effort estimates, and dependencies Apply risk‑based testing to prioritise effort where failures would have the highest impact Ensure defects are prioritised based on regulatory and customer impact Communicate test progress, issues, and risks in clear, business‑relevant language Produce concise test reports, dashboards, and executive summaries Act as the single point of accountability for testing outcomes Build trust through transparent and objective quality reporting Identify and implement improvements to test processes, tooling, and efficiency Develop and implement test automation framework, seeking opportunities to increase and optimise test automation coverage where appropriate Ensure testing aligns with industry, regulatory, and audit requirements Support internal and external audits related to system changes Ensure effective use of test management, defect tracking, and reporting tools Coordinate availability and stability of test environments and test data Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and releases Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to adapt quickly, work under pressure and manage multiple releases in accordance with delivery requirements and timelines Ensure that the Company’s compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed and kept up- to-date with particular focus on cyber security and data protection and the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company’s Register of Compliance Obligations (as set out in the Compliance Procedure and as amended from time to time). Knowledge, experience (including qualification) and skill Knowledge and experience: ITSQB Foundation in Software Testing Experience with Orion or Engage At least 5 years’ experience in the energy retail sector, preferably with both gas and electricity in all jurisdictions Testing experience to support compliance changes Experience with tools to test API points e.g., Postman Proven track record in test planning, managing test schedules, test execution and test automation Sound knowledge of JIRA Ability to mentor and coach other team members Skills: Agile methodologies – user story testing, story sizing, planning sessions, stand-ups Excellent relationship management skills Able to work independently or as part of a team Strong analytical skills Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
