We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Chef to join our team on a full-time basis to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for elderly clients and individuals with disabilities within our care services. Position Summary The Chef will be responsible for planning, organising, preparing, and cooking nutritious meals while ensuring efficient kitchen operations and compliance with food safety standards. The role requires the ability to manage kitchen activities, maintain meal quality, and support the dietary and nutritional needs of elderly clients and people living with disabilities. Duties and Responsibilities Planning and preparing nutritious meals suitable for elderly individuals and people living with disabilities Designing menus and estimating food and labour costs in consultation with management Preparing and cooking a variety of meals in accordance with dietary, cultural, and nutritional requirements Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on food preparation procedures Supervising kitchen operations to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and delivered on time Ensuring food is stored, handled, and prepared in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations Inspecting food supplies, raw ingredients, and kitchen equipment to maintain quality standards Ordering, receiving, and managing kitchen stock and supplies Monitoring portion control and minimising food wastage Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, equipment, and storage facilities Training and supervising kitchen assistants and support staff where required Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety policies and infection control procedures Assisting in developing specialised meal plans for clients with medical or dietary requirements Maintaining records relating to food preparation, storage temperatures, and kitchen hygiene standards Skills and Experience Required Relevant qualification equivalent to AQF Diploma or higher in Commercial Cookery or related field Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Chef Experience working within aged care, disability support, healthcare, or community care settings is highly regarded Strong understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements for elderly people and individuals with disabilities Knowledge of food safety standards and infection control procedures Excellent organisational and time management skills Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented care environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills
