This position plays a critical role in ensuring the security, integrity, availability, and performance of our database systems that support both internal operations and client-facing solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, administer, and maintain database management systems to support business and client requirements. Monitor database performance and undertake tuning, optimisation, and troubleshooting activities to maximise efficiency, reliability, and availability. Develop and maintain database structures, schemas, tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures. Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure business continuity and data integrity. Monitor and maintain database security through access controls, permissions management, auditing, and data protection measures. Perform database upgrades, patches, migrations, and system enhancements as required. Analyse database performance metrics and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with software developers, systems administrators, and business stakeholders to support application development and deployment activities. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across multiple systems and databases. Prepare and maintain technical documentation relating to database architecture, configurations, procedures, and operational standards. Investigate and resolve database-related issues while minimising disruption to business operations. Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend solutions to improve scalability, performance, and security. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Experience Minimum 3 years of full-time relevant work experience gained after obtaining the required qualification in a Database Administrator or closely related role. Skills Strong knowledge of database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar platforms. Experience in database administration, monitoring, optimisation, backup, and recovery. Knowledge of database security principles, access controls, and data protection practices. Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting. Understanding of data migration, integration, and database maintenance processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and technical documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic technology environment.
