About CRAICCHS: Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (CRAICCHS) is a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation. CRAICCHS objective is to provide access to holistic and client-centred quality primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the South Burnett regions. Key Duties: The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include: Facilitate independent ATSIFLDM processes to enable parents, families and children to address child protection concerns and participate fully in all decision making in a culturally safe and appropriate manner. Assist families understand Child Safety processes and Departmental safety concerns. Provide a culturally safe space for families to identify potential risks and provide solutions to enable the safety, belonging and wellbeing of their children. Work with families to map kin networks and identify family members able to support and maintain the child's cultural and family connections. Conduct planning sessions with family members to assist them prepare for an ATSIFLDM family meeting. In consultation with the family, prepare plans that hold meaning for the family. Record the family plan and provide it to Child Safety. Link the family with support services that will assist them implement and sustain the family plan. Build genuine trust, respect and rapport with families to encourage safe and effective communication of issues within the family and extended family. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with local service providers and key stakeholders to enable the best support and outcomes. Comply with privacy and confidentiality laws, policies and guidelines. Accurately and regularly record data into the Advice Referrals and Case Management (ARC) online reporting system. Ensure support to families through the identification of a suitable Independent Person to ensure the child and the family feel safe to speak. Be flexible and mobile to be able to respond to the individual needs of each family. Undertake other duties as required, that are within the scope of your skills, competence and training. Key Requirements: The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: Identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person - to perform the role of an Independent Person in the programme this is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. Relevant qualifications such as Cert III in Community Services or Cert IV in Youth or Family Intervention or similar or equivalent relevant experience in a human services field with a willingness to complete formal training and appropriate qualifications. The practical application and knowledge of the principles and best practices for ATSIFLDM, the Qld Child Protection legislation and policies or the ability to acquire through training. The understanding and actioning of the role of Independent Person as required. The practical application and knowledge of family mapping and finding, including the development of genograms and ecomaps, or the ability to acquire through training. Experience or knowledge of enabling participation of children and families in case planning and decision making. An understanding of child protection and family support within complex family dynamics and needs. The ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and families with complex needs. The ability to work collaboratively with Child Protection Services and the appointed Independent Person. Competent computer skills for the use of MS Office, electronic client records, information management systems and quality management systems. An understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective. Proven communication skills to effectively engage sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those with disability and those with diverse characteristics and life experiences. The ability to maintain professional boundaries and comply with strict confidentiality policies. The willingness to learn and complete ongoing professional development and training. Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to quickly acquire. Current CPR and First Aid Certs or the willingness to obtain. Current driver licence.
