Are you an experienced contracts professional with a passion for sustainability and delivering real outcomes for the community? This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a broad and meaningful portfolio within a large, well-resourced local government waste and resource recovery team. About the Role This senior position sits at the heart of how a major council plans, delivers and continuously improves its waste and recycling services. You'll lead the management of complex service contracts from end to end — working directly with contractors and stakeholders to ensure agreements are fit for purpose, performance standards are met, and the community gets the quality of service it deserves. You'll be the go-to escalation point for contract and operational matters, which means your communication skills and ability to navigate complexity calmly and confidently will be just as important as your technical expertise. Beyond contract management, you'll contribute to broader waste and recycling projects, review development applications for waste infrastructure suitability, prepare reports and advice for decision makers, and play an active role in shaping policy and strategy that supports a more sustainable city.
